PENDLETON – The city of Pendleton is not just considering opening the Pendleton Aquatic Center this summer. City Manager Robb Corbett said they’d like it to happen sooner than normal.
“We’ve been talking to the PHS swim team,” he said. “Their schedule has been shifted and we’re trying to work with them. That may mean that we’re going to open the pool a few weeks earlier than we normally would.”
The Oregon School Activities Association has determined the swimming season for both boys and girls will be from May 10 to June 26. Corbett said he does not know what the state government will rule about pools.
“We’re all operating under the assumption that the governor is going to allow us to function,” he said.
