JOHN DAY – At 1:30 yesterday afternoon power outages west of John Day were reported to OTEC, affecting around 500 members. The cause was a broken fuse cutout on a pole in the Luce Creek area. OTEC Crews worked quickly to isolate the problem and restore power.
Joseph Hathaway, Communications Manager at OTEC, recently said while technicians work around the clock, folks need to be thinking about preparing for the inevitable winter power outages:
“We just want to remind everyone to take the proper steps now top be prepared so you can stay safe and warm in case you find yourself in the dark during a severe winter event.
We want all of our members to be prepared—keep out the cold with insulation and learn how to keep their pipes from freezing.”
