OREGON – (Information from the Oregon FFA) Applications are currently open for the 2023 Oregon FFA Scholarships. High school FFA students, and some alumni, with an interest in agriculture or similar field have an opportunity to get a jump start on their advanced education. Available scholarships and a brief description of their purpose are as follows:
Oregon Fairs Foundation
The Oregon Fairs Foundation offers this scholarship to provide incentive for further education and recognition for meritorious work and achievement in FFA and at county fairs
Darrell Ricksger Memorial Scholarship

H.H. Gibson Memorial Scholarship
Professor Gibson was the Head of the Agricultural Education Department of Oregon Agricultural College from 1920 to 1953, and was a leader in the initiation of the Agricultural Education program as it stands today. Some of his accomplishments during his many years of service include the following: In 1928 Professor Gibson organized evening classes for young farmers to provide teaching facilities for students in Agricultural Education. In 1936 he developed a program of instructional material for teacher in-service use when teaching different areas of agricultural production. In 1938 the U.S. Office of Education appointed Professor Gibson to a committee, which reviewed teacher training objectives in Vocational Education in Agriculture. In 1939, the Department of Agricultural Education and the State Department of Vocational Education developed the first student teaching program. This program was the forerunner of the student teaching program, as it is known today. Professor Gibson was strongly involved with young farmers and teacher in-service, as well as students in Agricultural Education. He became well known in other states, especially in Arizona and Hawaii. The family of Professor Gibson initiated the H. H. Gibson Memorial Scholarship in 1960 to encourage students of Vocational Agriculture to further their training in an agriculture curriculum of their choice.
Oregon State FFA Alumni Education Scholarship
The Oregon State FFA Alumni & Supporters supports and promotes the FFA organization, FFA activities and agricultural education. The purpose of this Educational Scholarship is to award FFA members that have excelled in FFA programs and will continue to support and promote the FFA program.
Arthur “Ray” Gilmore Memorial Scholarship
During his teaching career, Mr. Ray Gilmore was an Agriculture Science and Technology instructor and FFA advisor in several programs in western Oregon. Due to medical reasons, he retired in 2003 from the Molalla FFA program. Even after he retired, he volunteered his time on many levels to work with the agriculture students/ FFA members of this state. Mr. Gilmore deeply believed in the goals, purpose, and life-long learning that Agriculture Education and FFA membership provide high school students. Mr. Gilmore’s service to the Oregon FFA at local, state and national levels demonstrated his tireless commitment to agriculture students and FFA members. He was devoted to bringing out the best in all his students through their education and involvement in the FFA. With Mr. Gilmore’s blessing, the Gilmore family initiated this scholarship though the Oregon FFA Foundation to encourage and support students that are pursuing a degree in Agriculture Education.
Dennis Ettestad Memorial CTE Pathway Scholarship
The Oregon FFA Alumni & Supporters is excited to support the Dennis Ettestad Memorial CTE Pathway Scholarship. This CTE Pathway Scholarship is designed to encourage and promote students who display a strong work ethic and a passion for agricultural, vocational and manufacturing careers. This scholarship is to be used for educational opportunities in trade, vocational, and technical training. The award must be used within two (2) school years after graduating from high school
