WALLA WALLA – Firefighters from the Walla Walla Fire Department contained the damage to one apartment in a fire yesterday afternoon. Crews were dispatched to a residence on a report of heavy black smoke coming from the unit.
Firefighters located and extinguished the blaze in the apartment, bringing it under control within minutes of their arrival. The department reports that no adjacent apartments received any damage from the fire in the 500 block of Southeast Second Avenue. Mutual aid was received from Walla Walla County Fire District 4.
Deputy Chief Fred Knowles stated the cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage to the property and contents is estimated at $30,000. The owner of the property is Jevons Property Management.
There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants.
