BAKER COUNTY – The Anthony Lakes Ski Racing Association (ALSRA) is concluding a successful season of youth Alpine competition by celebrating recent regional successes and providing accessible local races, ALSRA continues to strengthen its mission of supporting athletic growth and sportsmanship in the Eastern Oregon ski community.
A press release issued by ALSRA states, “The Anthony Lakes Ski Racing Association (ALSRA) invites racers and community members to join the fun at Broadway Blast, taking place March 28–29 at Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort. This high-energy event is open to all ages, making it a perfect opportunity to bring friends, family, and anyone who thinks they’re fast enough to beat you.
The weekend will feature a variety of exciting events, including Super-G, Nordic Sprint, and a Gelände Jump, offering something for racers of all abilities and spectators alike. Broadway Blast is known for its fun and community atmosphere, and gives skiers the chance to try different racing formats in one weekend.
Earlier this season, ALSRA hosted the Trouble Creek Cup, featuring Slalom and Giant Slalom races at Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort. ALSRA also congratulates its high school ski racers who competed at the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association (OISRA) State Championships. Nearly 230 high school racers from 1A–6A schools across Oregon competed against one another at Mt. Hood Meadows March 4–7. Eight ALSRA athletes represented their schools and the Anthony Lakes ski racing community with determination and sportsmanship.
The Baker girls team placed 4th overall in Slalom and 8th overall in Giant Slalom, finishing 5th overall in combined Slalom and GS team standings. The boys team did not have enough racers for a team score, but several athletes had strong individual performances. In combined Slalom and GS results, Chase Myatt placed 29th overall, and Kaeden deLint placed 33rd overall.
In addition, Chase Myatt and Kate Nilsen were awarded the Blue Mountain League Sportsmanship Award, an honor given after being nominated by their region.
