WALLA WALLA – The fourth round of Working Washingtonian grants will open for applicants Monday. The city of Walla Walla announces that the grants are earmarked for expenses incurred between March 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. The program is administered by the Washington State Department of Commerce.
The money is part of a bill approved by the Washington Legislature for $240 million. The measure also provides additional funding for rent assistance and other COVID-19-related efforts.
The state is required to take into account previous grant awards already distributed by the agency of its partners. That means that grant awards will vary with the maximum award capped at $25,000. There is also a requirement that the grants must be equitably distributed statewide and to historically underserved and disadvantaged populations.
The grants are aimed at for-profit businesses in industries that have suffered hard consequences associated with their operations due to the pandemic. Those costs include rent, utilities, payroll, or the purchase of personal protective equipment. The Department of Commerce website gives complete details of the requirements and the application portal is also located at http://commercegrants.com.
