PENDLETON – The winds will return to the foothills of the northern Blue Mountains from 7 p.m. Friday through Saturday at 7 p.m. The National Weather Service says the high wind watch includes the city of Pilot Rock.
In addition, meteorologists say that Interstate 84 from Mission to Cabbage Hill will likely be impacted by the winds out of the southeast ranging from 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 65. The weather service warns that the strong crosswinds will also likely impact Highway 11 from Pendleton to Milton Freewater.
The winds have the potential to topple trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
People are urged to fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of the winds. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates at https://www.weather.gov/pdt/.
