American Legion launches community fundraising drive for Nyssa Volunteer Fire Department

NYSSA- American Legion Post #79 in Nyssa has launched a community fundraising drive to support the Nyssa Volunteer Fire Department as local crews are called to battle ongoing wildfires. While trained to protect the area, the department currently only possesses equipment for structural fires, leaving firefighters in need of proper wildland gear to perform their duties safely and efficiently.

The drive aims to outfit crew members with specialized protective items, including wildland helmets, goggles, flame-resistant shirts, durable pants, and sturdy boots. Community members looking to support the safety of local first responders can send donations directly to the department’s Venmo account at venmo.com/u/nyssacity_rural.
