PENDLETON – Pendleton police officers have arrested a local resident accused of 24 counts of unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle. In addition, Andrew Paul Zachary Cook, 21, is alleged to have taken merchandise valued at more than $1,000 from the vehicles, which results in a charge of first-degree theft.
Police Chief Chuck Byram reports that the call came in from the 400 block of Northwest Seventh Street due to a car alarm being activated. The officers searched the area and found Cook in the 200 block of Northwest Ninth Street, where he was allegedly rummaging through a different vehicle in the neighborhood.
The ensuing investigation turned up 24 unsecured vehicles that had allegedly been entered by Cook.
He is lodged at Umatilla County Jail on $130,000 bond.
