Alleged axe-wielder due in court today

WALLA WALLA – Agustin Rodriguez Vazquez, 33, of Burbank is undergoing a competency evaluation and will appear in court again today on charges stemming from him allegedly wielding an axe on Hanson Loop earlier this week.
Several 911 calls were received regarding the man when deputies from the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Pasco Police Department responded. He appeared in court earlier this week and records indicate he told officers he was under the influence of drugs.
When Rodriguez Vazquez was taken into custody he was not armed with an axe, put deputies report they found one nearby that matched the description of the weapon he had been reported to be carrying. His bail was set at $10,000 Wednesday and court records indicate the evaluation was requested by the defendant’s attorney.
Rodriguez Vazquez is due to appear in court this morning.
