All Malheur National Forest campgrounds are open but two

JOHN DAY – Malheur National Forest Public Affairs Specialist Amy Franklin, along with Recreation/Special Uses Program Manager Lisa Arntz was on KJDY’s Coffee Time on Wednesday, and said almost all of the campgrounds on the forest are open:

“LISA: All of our campgrounds are open except…”

“AMY: …The Head of Boulder Forest Camp and Pine Creek Horse Camp. Those are the only two that are not accessible yet.

There’s a current list on our Malheur [National Forest] website. Each time one is checked, I’ll update the status and get it open, so that’s ever-changing.”

Arntz and Franklin want to inform the public that there will be no garbage service on the forest—including in campgrounds—so if you bring it in, plan on packing it out.
