All evacuation zones lifted near Juntura for Coleman Creek Fire

JUNTURA — The Malheur County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the final evacuation zones near the Coleman Creek Fire. The area has been downgraded to pre-evacuation levels, and residents can resume everyday operations. MCSO reports, “There are no more evacuation recommendations for the zones within the Coleman Creek fire area. Immediate threat of fire has been eliminated. Return to normal conditions.”
As of Monday’s official update, the Coleman Creek Fire was 308,721 acres and 89% contained.
Fire managers report, “The key objectives remain focused on mop-up, perimeter patrol, and suppression repair. Crews continue to patrol and monitor the Hwy 20 corridor to investigate any smoke reports made. Firefighters continue to patrol the perimeter to look into potential hot spots detected from infrared imaging. Crews will continue fence repair and suppression rehabilitation activities along the Hwy 20 corridor. Suppression repair will begin in the interior of the fire off Shumway Road and Shumway Ranch Road.”
