All evacuation orders lifted as Lower Dry Creek Fire reaches 100% containment

UMATILLA COUNTY — Authorities have lifted all evacuation orders for a wildfire in northeastern Oregon after crews achieved full containment.

The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday morning that all evacuation levels associated with the Lower Dry Creek Fire have been removed. The fire is reported at 100 percent containment and is scheduled to transition back to local fire jurisdiction at 1 p.m. today (Sunday).

While the immediate threat has passed, sheriff’s officials urged residents and visitors to remain cautious as fire season reaches its peak.

“Citizens are strongly encouraged to remain vigilant of their surroundings and monitor local conditions,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Personnel and heavy equipment remain in the area to conduct mop-up operations. Authorities asked the public to stay alert for crews and to report any smoke or flare-ups to the regional dispatch center.

The sheriff’s office credited the Oregon State Fire Marshal, the Oregon Department of Forestry, local emergency responders, and the American Red Cross for their roles in securing the area and supporting displaced residents.
