Alameda Intermediate in Ontario to modernize their playground

ONTARIO — Officials with Alameda Intermediate Elementary School in Ontario say the school’s playground will soon undergo a “complete transformation” this month.

According to an informational release, “Alameda Intermediate is partnering with TPL [Trust for Public Land] to replace outdated equipment and asphalt with a green space featuring interactive play equipment, full sized covered basketball court, local art, and a tree canopy. This project is designed to serve both students and the broader community as a high-quality recreational hub.”

Looking to the future, the school explained that “…while construction will temporarily impact daily routines and weekend sports, the project will result in a brand-new, modern community schoolyard by September 2026.”

The efforts are being fully funded by the Trust for Public Land (TPL).

Key Impacts & Changes

To ensure safety during construction, the following adjustments will be in effect:

Parent Pick-Up & Parking:

  • The back parking lot will be restricted to a significantly smaller zone.
  • Expect changes to the standard parent pick-up lines; please follow on-site signage and staff direction for new traffic patterns. See map

Weekend & Soccer Activities:

  • The playground and adjacent areas will be fully closed for the duration of construction.
  • The upcoming Spring 2026 soccer season will experience limited parking and no access to the playground area.

Site Safety:

  • The playground area will be a restricted construction zone; for your safety, please do not enter fenced-off areas at any time.
