Air quality advisory extended through the weekend for much of Eastern Oregon

SALEM – An air quality advisory has been extended for much of Eastern Oregon, as the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and partner agencies continue to monitor the smoke from wildfires in the area.
The advisory remains in place through the weekend for Baker, Crook, Grant, Jefferson, Union, Wallowa, and Wheeler counties. The advisory is expected to last through at least Monday afternoon.
Intermittent smoke is also expected this weekend in Gilliam, northern Harney, northern Lake, northern Malheur, Morrow, and Umatilla Counties.
For anyone needing relief from the smoke, these organizations of La Grande are offering smoke relief areas:
- La Grande Senior Center (operated by Community Connection of Northeast Oregon)
- 5104 North Albany Street, La Grande.
- 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Cook Memorial Library
- 2006 Fourth Street
- 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturdays)
- Right Track Resource Center
- 501 3rd Street
- 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (during walk-in hours)
The OSU Extension Service in Baker County is also offering free masks.
