JOHN DAY – January is Stalking Awareness Month, and as it to an end Heart of Grant County Advocate Rayme Lacey explains that there are many different situations that could be considered stalking:

“Stalking is any repeated unwanted contact that causes a reasonable person to feel fear for their safety, for the safety of their friends and family—the people around them, or to make them experience substantial emotional distress.”

Lacey said that nearly 60% of the time stalking occurs, the parties involved are current or former intimate partners. If you feel like you may be a victim of stalking, Heart of Grant County has resources available. Call their 24-hour hotline at 541-620-1342.
