LA GRANDE – With fire raging across Southern California, blood donations have been greatly disrupted in the region, exacerbating the existing blood shortage. The American Red Cross is asking anyone able to give blood to donate during local drives this week. As written by Linda and Sheldon Strand, La Grande’s Community Blood Draw Coordinators:

“The fires in Southern California prevent blood gathering in that area adding to the already acute blood shortage.  Please contact any/all the people you know who may be able to give blood on Tuesday or Wednesday this week. We have opened additional appointments to accommodate additional donors.”

Blood draws are scheduled for the following days:

  • Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
    • Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
    • Corner of 12th street and Gekeler Lane, La Grande.
    • 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday, January 15, 2025
    • Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
    • Corner of 12th street and Gekeler Lane, La Grande.
    • 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
