RICHLAND, Washington – On Saturday, patrol officers arrested a woman they had been searching for in relation to Thursday morning’s shooting on the 1900 block of McMurray Avenue that left one person dead. A male and female were also injured. The female suspect was booked into the Benton County Jail for first-degree assault. Her name was not released.
On Friday, the male gunshot victim, Dustin Paul Nelson, 37, was booked into the Benton County Jail for first-degree burglary. Nelson and a woman were transported to an area hospital for gunshot wounds Thursday. The female remains in critical condition.
The Richland Police Department said another man had been transported from the scene Thursday for injuries, but was not shot. He was released from the hospital later that day and is not considered a suspect at this time. Investigators are still following up on active leads regarding a male suspect who is still at large.
RPD said this remains an active investigation and few additional details can be provided due to the complexity of the case. It is believed the residence was specifically targeted and it was not a random act of violence.
