WALLOWA, OR – The Wallowa School went into lockdown Monday morning for a brief time. According to Wallowa County Sheriff Joel Fish, an irate parent caused a bit of a commotion, uncertain what the commotion entailed. The parent in question refused to leave the school when asked however left the school prior to law enforcements arrival. The reason for the lockdown was to insure the safety of the students and staff, in case the commotion escalated.
Tammy Jones, Wallowa County School Superintendent said, at no time were there weapons or violence on the campus. Students were kept safe in classrooms with teachers. A short time later the lockdown was lifted and classes continued as normal.
