BAKER CITY – Citizens in Baker City are reminded that the city is currently in State 2 of their water curtailment plan. The Water Curtailment Plan is a four-part plan.
Stage 1: Alert Status
Stage 2: Warning Status
Stage 3: Critical Status
Stage 4: Emergency Status
According to the City of Baker City, the Warning stage requires that “yard/garden irrigating will be limited to evening or early morning hours only.”
Public works has set the hours of 7pm to 7am for outside watering.
Information from the city states that “Daytime irrigation wastes water due to higher evaporation rate in the heat of the day.”
In addition, Public Works has specifically requested that the Parks, Cemetery, Golf Course and Sports Complex reduce their usage for irrigation.
