ENTERPRISE – In recent weeks there has been a rash of storage unit break-ins in Wallowa County. These are not limited to the City of Enterprise but are county-wide. If you have a storage unit in Wallowa County, please take a few minutes and make sure your unit is secure.
While you are there make sure the lock on the unit is the one you placed there. In some cases, the owners lock has been cut off, contents removed, and a lock placed back on the unit by the thieves to make it look like the unit is still secure.
While you are there take a moment to photograph the contents of the unit. If possible, record the make, model, and serial number of tools and other items. This is the best way for law enforcement to track stolen items.
The Police Department is suggesting that you replace any hasp type lock with a cylinder lock like the one shown. These locks are much harder to compromise than hasp style locks.
If your unit has been compromised or you have witnessed suspicious activity please contact the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office or the Enterprise Police Department.
