A Pendleton home invasion suspect is arraigned, another is believed to be at large

PENDLETON – The Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed to Elkhorn Media Group that Nathan Kielley-Toohey, 34, was the suspect in a robbery and assault Wednesday that caused a brief lockdown of schools and businesses in Pendleton, including Pendleton Early Learning Center.

Pendleton police said that two masked assailants forcibly entered a residence in the 1300 block of Southwest Goodwin Lane armed with a firearm and assaulted the victim while stealing items of value. When the victim managed to escape, the assailants fled causing a vehicle crash after which Kielley-Toohey was arrested.

The Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office said it is believed the second suspect is still at large.

According to the Umatilla County Jail roster Kielley-Toohey’s charges are one count each of felony first-degree robbery, felony first-degree burglary, felony first-degree theft, felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony third-degree assault and second-degree kidnapping.

Kielley-Toohey was arraigned last Thursday. During the arraignment prosecution requested a bail of $300,000, stating the nature of the charges and that some of the charges are Measure 11 crimes with presumptive multiple-year sentences. The district attorney’s office also noted the victim’s injuries including head and wrist fractures.

Kielley-Toohey’s criminal history was also mentioned, including that he’s a repeat property offender which could also subject him to a presumptive sentence. Kielley-Toohey’s bail was set at $300,000. If bail is met and he’s released he’s required to have no contact with the victim and not possess firearms. As of Monday evening, he was still shown on the Umatilla County Jail roster.
