ELGIN, OR – Citizens in the City of Elgin are being asked to complete a Community Income Survey. This is in partnership with Portland State University.
The survey is necessary because the City is applying for a Community Development Block Grant and as a part of the application, the community must provide the State with a current estimate of the incomes of residents of the community.
In addition, the survey information is needed to help the schools. Without it, the school district may lose the summer lunch program as well as the free lunch and breakfast program, according to Mayor Risa Hallgarth.
The survey will first be mailed to all households in Elgin, followed by phone calls to households that do not return a paper survey by mail. Volunteers will also be going door to door to collect the data.
It will be conducted in a manner that is totally confidential, so your privacy will be protected. The accuracy of the survey is important, and the City is asking for your help in obtaining this information. The survey will be simple and will only ask a small number of questions and the answers will be confidential. Your cooperation is very important, and the City is asking for your help. If you have any questions, please contact City Hall at (541) 437-2253.
