A benefit to help Naomi Jane, who has leukemia

BAKER CITY – Late last week, a benefit was held for Naomi Jane, who has leukemia, daughter of Benjamin and Emily Becktold. Hundreds of silent auction items were up for bid as well as live auction donations. The benefit was held at the Baker City Elks Lodge and drew over 400 people. Many co-workers of the Oregon Department of Forestry and friends decided to organize the event, called Naomi’s Village.
Benjamin told Elkhorn Media Group, “The middle of July we found out my one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Naomi has leukemia. She spent a week at the Boise Saint Luke’s and then was transferred to Seattle Children’s Hospital because her type of leukemia is very rare.” Benjamin went on to say, “The main message I would like to relay to Baker (and Northeast Oregon) is the overwhelming gratitude myself and my family have for the support and kindness and prayers of our friends and neighbors and communities. We are awed and humbled by everyone’s kindness. Please keep praying.”
