PORTLAND – The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation is one of seven federally-recognized Tribes in Oregon that have signed memorandums of understanding with Travel Oregon. They are the first agreements to formalize the partnership between the Tribes and the tourism industry and strengthens commitments to promote and develop tourism within Tribal lands in Oregon.

Travel Oregon says the partnership has been in the making for several years. It has also prompted the newly updated “Experience Indigenous Oregon” travel guide. The updated guide includes information on each Tribe’s culture and heritage as well as tourism offerings. It’s available free on the Travel Oregon website and at any Travel Oregon welcome centers.

Tribal casinos and resorts across Oregon employ 4,439 workers and support another 662 jobs for their Tribal governments according to the latest report from ECOnorthwest. In total, those workers were paid $378.9 million in wages and benefits.
