SNOQUALMIE PASS — Washington State Patrol troopers are launching a two-day chain enforcement emphasis on Snoqualmie Pass beginning tomorrow (Tuesday), aiming to ensure commercial truck drivers are prepared for winter mountain travel.

The operation, scheduled for Tuesday (tomorrow) and Wednesday, focuses on educating commercial motor vehicle drivers and enforcing state requirements to carry adequate snow traction devices along Interstate 90. Under state regulations, commercial vehicles are required to carry chains across mountain passes from Nov. 1 through April 1.

“Our main goal is to educate and gain compliance with CMV drivers to carry chains from November 1st to April 1st,” Trooper Jeremy Weber said in a statement.

WSP plans to publish the results of the two-day emphasis on social media following the operation.
