ENTERPRISE – (Press release from the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office) The Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to safely dispose of old, expired, and unused prescription medications to help protect our community, our children, and our environment.
Unused medications left in homes can pose serious risks if accidentally taken by children or accessed by someone for whom they were not prescribed. Medications can also harm the environment if improperly disposed of and allowed to enter our waterways.
Residents are encouraged to bring unwanted medications, including prescriptions belonging to deceased loved ones, to the medication drop-off box located in the entrance to the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office lobby.
The drop-off box is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No appointment or interaction with staff is necessary, and drop-offs are completely anonymous.
By properly disposing of unwanted medications, you can help prevent accidental poisonings, reduce the risk of prescription drug misuse, and protect our local waterways.
Thank you for helping us keep Wallowa County a safe and healthy place to live.
