ENTERPRISE — Wallowa County officials are warning residents of a new scam involving the county planning department.
Anyone who receives an email purporting to be from the department should check the sender’s address. According to the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office, reported fraudulent emails have been originating from the address
planningdept-wallowacounty.gov@usa.com.
The scam messages have been requesting payment to the planning department. Officials advise the public to never send money or share personal or financial information in response to unexpected requests. Recipients should not reply to suspicious emails, click on links or open attachments.
If you believe that you’ve already paid money or shared financial information with a suspected scam email, you should contact your bank or payment provider immediately.
