9-25 Hagen Fire Update

From the Incident Command Team on the fire burning in Umatilla and Union counties and the Umatilla Indian Reservation:
Update: The Hagen Fire has burned 61,380 acres. Containment (the percentage of the current fire edge considered very unlikely to spread) has reached 97%, with 315 personnel assigned.
Crews and heavy equipment are working to complete repairing disturbances from fire line construction around the fire perimeter. One hundred and thirty-four miles of fire line have been repaired, with 19 miles left to complete. Crews are completing chipping of debris piles from fire line construction and spreading grass seed on areas prone to erosion. Nine miles of dozer line have been seeded, with about 60 miles remaining.
Today’s workforce includes 4 crews, 5 engines, 7 water tenders, 6 dozers, 4 road graders, 2 chippers and one helicopter.
Weather and Fire Behavior: Today will be much cooler, with about 0.10 to 0.15 inches of rain expected. There is a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Winds will be from the west-northwest, with gusts up to 30 mph on ridgetops and exposed areas.
Umatilla National Forest Closures and Fire Restrictions: The Hagen Fire Emergency Closure Reduction Update is effective beginning September 22, 2026, until December 1, 2026, for public safety and to facilitate firefighting operations. Public Safety Reminder: Residents and visitors should remember that the absence of visible smoke does not mean all hazards are gone. Burned areas may still contain weakened or falling trees, rolling or falling rocks, pockets of remaining heat, unstable terrain, and firefighters or heavy equipment working in the area. The approaching wet and windy weather will increase the risk of falling trees.
