Wild turkeys prevalent in Grant County during fall turkey season

GRANT COUNTY – It’s fall turkey season in Grant County. ODFW John Day District Wildlife Biologist Ryan Torland was on KJDY’s Coffee Time recently, and said that wild turkeys saw a good year of chick production:

“Turkey production seems to be really good. Upland game girds in general seemed to do very well through the year. Chick production seemed to be pretty good. Just a good opportunity to gout—especially, to take the youth out. I think a youth [fall turkey] tag is ten bucks, as opposed to…twenty-six fifty for an adult. It’s a little cheaper, so take your kid out and go harvest a turkey.”
