Investigators of Science registration now open for October

LA GRANDE – Local middle school students have a unique opportunity to learn about zombies…for science! The Investigators of Science Program, organized by the Northeast Oregon Area Health Education Center and Hosted by Eastern Oregon University, is now accepting applications for its October 2026 event.
Each year, around 100 middle school students are invited to a fun science-based mystery while gaining unique hands-on experience in STEM fields outside of the traditional classroom. As written in a press release for this year’s event:
“Calling all middle schoolers!
A spooky mystery is coming to Eastern Oregon University on October 24! Investigators of Science is a full day of problem-solving, scientific exploration, and fun for middle school students in Northeast Oregon. This event gives students an opportunity to explore STEM outside of the classroom in a fun, hands-on environment. This year’s theme is, “Zombie Apocalypse…Is it really possible?”
