Harney District Hospital’s Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Clinic will be expanded

HARNEY COUNTY (Released from Harney District Hospital)-Exciting updates are coming to Harney District Hospital’s Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Clinic (formerly known as the Physical Therapy Clinic)!

Project overview

The Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Clinic will be expanding into the existing Family Care Clinic lobby. This expansion will provide five treatment rooms and a larger open gym. The space will also be upgraded with several new pieces of equipment and new treatment tables. As part of this project, the Family Care patient check-in area will be reconfigured, with a new check-in location created on the north side.

Timeline

This expansion project has been in the works for quite some time! Harney Hospital Foundation began fundraising for this project in November 2023. After securing the necessary funding, we were able to move into the design phase of the project in April of this year. Construction is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 14 through Nov. 6, 2026.

Closures

To minimize disruptions, the expansion project will be completed in a single phase.

During the construction project:

  • The current location of the Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Clinic will close and be emptied out entirely.
  • Most of the Family Care/ Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine lobby will be closed.
  • The Family Care/ Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine main entrance will be closed and reconfigured.

Temporary locations & patient flow

During construction, Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine services will be temporarily provided in the Harney District Hospital Board Room and Annex Conference Room as well as the Racine Conference Room in the NewSun Energy & Harney District Hospital Specialty Care Clinic. Please note the following patient flow changes:

  • Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine patients who are going to the Board Room or Annex will enter through the hospital’s main entrance.
  • Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine patients going to the Racine Conference Room will enter through the Specialty Care Clinic’s main entrance.
  • Family Care patients will enter through the hospital’s main entrance.

Impact to meeting spaces

The Board, Annex, and Racine conference rooms will be unavailable for meetings during the construction period, as these spaces will be used to provide Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine services. The hospital’s Administrative Conference Room will still be available for in-person meetings during this time. Public meetings that are typically held in the Board, Annex, or Racine conference rooms will be relocated to the Administrative Conference Room or another location. Updated locations will be provided in public meeting notices.

Project funding

The Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine Clinic expansion project was made possible through the generosity and tenacity of our Harney Hospital Foundation, which has championed fundraising efforts for the past three years. Funding has come from the Foundation’s annual galas, private donors, a significant grant from the Roundhouse Foundation, and a generous donation from Ag West. We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed toward the success of this project. This includes the numerous community members who came out to support the Foundation’s annual gala. This expansion project wouldn’t be possible without community members like you!
