Ontario Fire & Rescue crews extinguish ventilation fire

ONTARIO — Fire crews in Ontario responded quickly and saved a residence from fire last Thursday. Ontario Fire & Rescue (OFR) reports that on August 27th at approximately 6:51 p.m., OFR was dispatched for the report of smoke in a residence on SW 4th Avenue.
OFR responded with Engine 103, Brush Engine 156, and command 105 crews. The agency reports, “Upon arrival, OFR found a single-family double-wide residence with smoke showing. The homeowners were home and out of the residence. Crews used thermal imaging to locate the fire within a dryer vent with extension into the floor of the master bedroom. After accessing the area and extinguishing the fire, the home was ventilated.”
Officials report damage to the residence was minimal thanks to a quick response. No injuries were reported.
OFR states, “This is a good reminder to make sure lint is cleared from dryer vents and ducts regularly and to have working smoke detectors.”
