WALLOWA COUNTY- (Release from the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office) On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Wallowa County 911 Center received an iPhone Emergency Relay report of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 82 near milepost 35, with the vehicle in the Wallowa River.
Emergency personnel from the Wallowa Fire Department, Joseph Fire Department, and Wallowa County Ambulance responded to the scene.
Wallowa County Sheriff Ryan Moody also responded and determined that Makayla Miles, 21, of Wallowa, was traveling westbound on Highway 82 in a 2004 Honda Accord when she lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve. The vehicle subsequently rolled into the Wallowa River.
Miles was the lone occupant of the vehicle. She was transported by Wallowa County Ambulance to Wallowa Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash, according to Sheriff Ryan Moody.
