MORROW COUNTY – The Morrow County Fair is over and the Morrow County School District is preparing to open the doors on the new school year. Superintendent Matt Combe says all families will notice one big change, and that’s how the schools communicate with the students and parents.
“We are using a new student information system,” he said. “We had to switch because of some ODE (Oregon Department of Education) guidance and requirements with the Department of Education.”
The system being used in the past was not on a list of approved information systems, Combe said. They chose Power School and he believes parents will find it more user friendly than the old system.
There’s one more change that students at Windy River Elementary School in Boardman and Irrigon Elementary School will notice when they walk in the door on that first day.
“There will be a new, more secure vestibule entry area,” Combe said. “We reconfigured the entryways a little bit at both Windy River and Irrigon Elementary.”
