Beware of Escalating Idaho Power Scams in Baker County and beyond

BAKER COUNTY — A growing number of scam reports have prompted warnings about fraudulent activity targeting local Idaho Power customers.  Imposters claiming to represent Idaho Power are reaching out through door-to-door visits, phone calls, texts, and emails.

These individuals often attempt to pressure customers into providing sensitive personal information or making fast payments.

Idaho Power Reminders:

  • No Immediate Demands: Idaho Power will never demand immediate payment under threat of disconnection.
  • No Pre-Paid Cards: The company never accepts payments via pre-paid cards, such as Green Dot.
  • No Digital Threats: Idaho Power does not send texts or emails stating an account has been closed, payment was denied, or service will be cut off for nonpayment.

Anyone who receives a suspicious visit or message should refrain from sharing personal information or sending payment. When in doubt, contact customer service directly using official contact channels to verify account status.
