Bob Creek Fire now 100% contained. Daily Update for Fox, Bob Creek and Powder River Fires: August 8, 2026

BAKER COUNTY — (Release from the Southeast Incident Management Team) Fox Fire
Acres: 79,002 Containment: 63% Start Date: July 23, 2026 Location: 12 miles northeast of Huntington, Oregon Cause: Undetermined Fuels: Grass and Timber Personnel: 296
Yesterday, crews continued to connect bulldozer lines and handlines along the fire’s edge north of Sugarloaf Mountain. Firefighters worked to connect handlines and mop up the fire’s edge along Connor Creek and near Forsea River Ranch. Crews extinguished pockets of heat near Fox Spur Road.
Today, firefighters will continue to patrol Snake River Road and Interstate 84. They will also mop up along Lookout Mountain Road. Crews will install hose lines east of Sugarloaf Mountain along bulldozer lines. Some resources will be released to support other incidents.
Bob Creek Fire

The Bob Creek Fire is 100% contained. This will be the final update for the Bob Creek Fire unless there are significant changes.
Powder River Fire
Acres: 21,088 Containment: 96% Start Date: July 16, 2026 Location: Approximately 5 miles west of Richland, Oregon Cause: Undetermined Fuels: Grass, Sage, Timber Personnel: 54
Yesterday, crews continued to patrol the Powder River Fire. Today, engine crews will continue to patrol the fire’s edge.
Evacuations: Evacuation levels for the Fox, Powder River, and Bob Creek Fires will be reevaluated today. The public is urged to follow directions from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office. More at: https://arcg.is/0iKuO91.
Safety & Closures: The Bureau of Land Management has issued a closure for lands west of the Snake River and around Oxbow. Recreational boaters are urged to stay clear of aircraft using the Snake River to refill their buckets. Temporary flight restrictions are in place over the fire areas. The Bob Creek Fire no longer has a temporary flight restriction.

Weather: Heat Advisory. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s, with low humidity in the single digits.
