HARNEY AND MALHEUR COUNTY (Released from the California Interagency Incident Management Team 5)-
Location: 40 miles East of Burns, Acres Burned: 44,122, Containment: 99%, Start Date: July 24, 2026, Cause: Lightning, Personnel: 69
**This will be the last update for the Hat Fire, unless fire activity changes**
Current Situation: The perimeter of the Hat Fire remains unchanged and is now 99 percent contained. The fire is in patrol status, and firefighters will continue to monitor the area for visible smoke or smoldering vegetation.
Weather and Air Quality: Today, warmer and drier conditions are expected to develop as high pressure begins to build over the desert Southwest. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the 80s to lower 90s while relative humidity drops into the single digits and low teens. West to northwest winds, gusting around 20 MPH, can be expected in the afternoon. Degraded air quality will persist over the area.
