Halfway residents to see increases in water price

HALFWAY – Mayor Jackelyn Jackson of the City of Halfway issued a release last month regarding coming increases to water prices. Mayor Jackson stated residents could see those changes as soon as next month. Read the Mayor’s letter below:

The City of Halfway and the Halfway City Council is continuing to look at ways to increase solvency for the Water systems. Current users will see increases as soon as September. Price increases will change for Residential, Small Commercial, Large Commercial, and will now include an Extra Large Commercial, based on size of business, and activities at that location. Many small commercial accounts have been charged at a residential rate for many years, and it makes sense to increase them, as well as be sure that all businesses are included and billed properly. Currently this is still in discussion and no decisions have been reached. The public, and business owners in particular are encouraged to attend the August 6th meeting of the Halfway City Council to voice your opinions, concerns, and questions.
