MEACHAM – Drivers on Interstate 84 early Thursday morning saw quite a sight lighting up at dusk, as a semi-trailer caught fire and completely burned on the side of the road.
Oregon State Police were alerted to the fire just before 5 a.m. The cab had completely disconnected from the trailer and was parked safely down the road. No injuries were reported.
The truck was hauling paint, which leaked from the trailer and into a nearby ditch. OSP notified the Oregon Emergency Response System of the spill.
The fire began in the truck’s brakes. Umatilla Tribal Fire, Tribal Police, the Oregon Department of Transportation, and the Oregon Department of Forestry all responded to assist.
