Wallowa County invites residents to discuss the Blue Mountain Forest Plan

WALLOWA COUNTY – Wallowa County residents curious about the future of the Blue Mountain Forest plan have a unique opportunity coming up to explore landscape management and provide feedback. Dubbed “campfire conversations,” the Northern Blues Forest Collaborative will be hosting a community conversation at the food booth at the Wallowa County fair, August 13. As written by Wallowa County in a recent announcement:
“You’ll explore how different options could shape the landscape, what that means for your community, and how your questions, values, and comments can help guide the direction of the plan revision. No prior knowledge needed. Just bring your questions and perspective!”
During the event, participants will rotate through small group discussion stations focusing on forest health, riparian areas, wildfire resilience, and other primary aspects of the Blue Mountain Forest Plan. As again written by Wallowa County, participants can expect to:
- Learn the basics of the topic
- Explore real tradeoffs and management scenarios
- Share your values, questions, and concerns
- Hear from neighbors, landowners, and local experts
- Learn how to comment on the forest plan
Food and refreshments will be provided. The event will take place on August 13, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wallowa County Fairgrounds food booth in Enterprise. More information and an option to RSVP can be found here.
