First Bank Building in Vale awarded OPRD grant

VALE — The First Bank Building in Vale is set to get some attention, according to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD).

OPRD’s Oregon Heritage has recently announced their latest round of grant funding, and the old bank building in Vale made the list of recipients. This “Preserving Oregon” grant was earmarked for properties on the National Register of Historic Places and for archaeology projects.

The agency reports, “These grants are approved by the State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation, a nine-member group that reviews nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. The members are professionally recognized in the fields of history, architecture, archaeology and other related disciplines.”
