Prairie City’s debris burn pile closed due to misuse

PRAIRIE CITY – Officials with the City of Prairie City have informed our newsroom that the city’s public burn pile is closed until further notice. The debris pile on the city’s property just west of town is meant for yard debris only, such as limbs, brush, plants, and natural woody material. Apparently, people have been abusing this, and have been dumping garbage and other materials that are not yard debris.
City staff have stated they are currently reviewing surveillance from the area. This is a developing story, and we’ll keep you updated.
