Cody Lathrop Officially Sworn In as Wallowa County Commissioner

ENTERPRISE, (Release from Wallowa County) — In a morning ceremony filled with family, friends, and community supporters, Cody Lathrop was officially sworn in yesterday as Wallowa County Commissioner for Position #2. The ceremony took place at 8:30 AM in the Thornton Conference Room at the Wallowa County Courthouse.

The ceremony carried a unique and deeply personal significance for the eighth-generation Wallowa County family: the official oath of office was administered by Wallowa County Clerk Sandy Lathrop, who happens to be the new commissioner’s mother. The moment beautifully blended a proud family milestone with the official, professional traditions of the county courthouse. Following the swearing-in, Commissioner Lathrop was joined by his family under the American flag to celebrate and thank the local community members in attendance.

The transition allows interim Commissioner Mike Hayward to officially step down and return to his retirement. Hayward had selflessly stepped back into public service to provide a steady hand of leadership during a critical transition period following the tragic loss of longtime Commissioner Susan Roberts. The county extends its deepest gratitude to Hayward for his dedication and service when the community needed it most.

The Wallowa County Board of Commissioners warmly welcomes Commissioner Lathrop to his new role and invites community members to engage with the courthouse as they work together toward a stronger future.
