Grants, community donations secure future for Weston-McEwen High student support programs

ATHENA — Two student-support programs at Weston McEwen High School have secured a wave of grants, donations, and volunteer commitments to sustain operations through the 2026-27 school year.
The TigerScot Treasure Trunk, which provides students with free hygiene products and clothing , received a $2,000 grant from The Pacific Power Foundation. The program is also backed by monthly Walmart donations, St. Anthony Hospital, and local community volunteers.
Additionally, the Weston Food Pantry expanded into the high school this year by adding a new refrigerator and freezer. The pantry secured a community health improvement grant from St. Anthony Hospital , alongside a $1,000 Pacific Power Foundation grant and $1,000 in private donations from the Athena community.
