PENDLETON – Path to Success grants were awarded by the Pendleton Development Commission this week. The idea behind the grants is to encourage businesses to open and flourish in the downtown area.
This year, the winners of the business plan competition are owners of businesses that are already operating, but want to grow.
“They will be expanding either their footprint or their operations at their current location or a new location, increasing economic activity in the downtown core,” City Manager Robb Corbett said.
He added that the PDC had planned on giving out three grants, but increased that to four $20,000 awards due to the strength of their applications.
The winners are Maya Bamer for Morningstar Blend Teas; Martha Gomez for Los Chilaquiles Hot Lunch and Desserts; Mariah Falconer for Herbal by Nature dealing in natural soaps and other products; and Valerie Anctil of Pendleton Bakery to expand hours, products, and distribution.
