Sex offender jailed, placed on probation in Grant County for failing to report

CANYON CITY – A man will spend time in jail and on probation for failing to report as a sex offender. Grant County Circuit Court documents indicate that James Charles Beard, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of Failure to Report as a Sex Offender, committed in May of this year.
Beard was sentenced to 20 days in the Grant County Jail and placed on Supervised Probation for 24 months. Special conditions of the probation include completion of 40 hours of community service and entrance into a Moral Reconation Therapy program.
The guilty plea was entered on June 8th.
