PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council approved a zoning change for a 2-acre parcel behind NAPA Auto Parts and the Salvation Army, bringing it in line with surrounding plots.

The 2.06-acre parcel had been zoned for light industrial use, dating back to the Harris Pine Lumbermill and Smith Frozen Food Cannery administration offices that once stretched to the Umatilla River. Other parcels had previously switched to a commercial mixed-use zoning as they were developed for other uses including Walmart and the Melanie Square Plaza.

One of the applicants for the zoning change plans to turn the former Integrity Auto Glass building into a veterinary clinic and use an existing warehouse on the property for storage.
