PENDLETON – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police responded to a report that a man was firing shots with a rifle and yelling on Monday afternoon. Law enforcement went to the address at 71477 Schroeder Road and contacted the man with a rifle who then went inside the residence.
OSP reports that eventually Ezra Taylor Niord, 30, came outside and was detained. A further investigation saw sheriff’s deputies arresting and lodging the suspect at Umatilla County Jail.
Niord is charged with four felonies. They are possession of a prohibited firearm; manufacturing, importing, selling, or transferring an undetectable firearm; attempted unlawful use of a weapon; and being a felon in possession of a weapon. No bail has been set on the first three felonies. The fourth has bail set at $50,000.
