HEPPNER – Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson said the holiday weekend appears to have given two people from Heppner time to allegedly pull off a theft at Columbia Basin Electric Cooperative.
”When the employees came to work on Tuesday after the holiday they realized that some of the vehicles of the coop had been broken into and items taken,” Nelson said.
The items in question were tools and copper wire. Nelson said that warranted charges of first-degree aggravated theft, a B felony, against both Noble Allan Goehring,30, and Angel Lynn Newport, 40. In addition, a search warrant was served on their home where at least 10 grams of a substance that contained a detectable amount of methamphetamine was found. Goehring and Newport also face C felony charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
In addition, they are each charged with misdemeanors: second-degree criminal trespass and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. The tools and wire were valued at over $10,000.
Their bail is set at Umatilla County Jail at $50,000 each.
